We had a great time at the beach and we’re also very glad to be back home in our own comfy beds. We did lots of shopping, playing at the beach and in the pool. Dylan made some new friends at the pool and she very proudly likes to announce that she can swim by herself. I guess “myself” means with a death grip on mommy. It was great to spend some time with Bam and Aunt Nancy too. We had to fight off a little stomach virus on the way home, but we’re all okay now. It was a great vacation! Here are some photos to share with you.
Happy Father’s Day! June 16, 2008
I’ve always known that Jimmy would be a great father. He is great with all kids not just his own. Here are a few reasons why he’s a great daddy to Dylan and Ava.
- He makes time for them.
- He is patient.
- He tells them he loves them all the time.
- He’s willing to learn from his mistakes.
- He’s willing to learn from the girls.
- He backs me up when I need it.
- He disciplines them when they need it.
- He kisses their boo boos.
- He leaves work to take them to the doctor if I can’t.
- He encourages their curiosity.
- He makes them feel safe.
- He wants very much to develop a great father/daughter relationship.
- He understands how important his role as father is to two little girls.
Those are just a few reasons why Jimmy is such a great father and why I love him. Happy Father’s Day! We love you!

Day #1 At The Beach June 10, 2008
We arrived safely last night and got a good night’s sleep. This morning we went shopping for a while, ate some lunch and then home for a short nap. Then it was time for Ava to see the Ocean for the first time! We packed up all the necessary beach stuff and walked over. I took Ava to the edge of the water and sat her down and she immediately started crying. She wasn’t a big fan. I sat with her in the shade and tried to get her to play in the sand, but she didn’t care for that too much either. I think I may have a high maintenance baby. Eventually she took a little walk in the sand with me and took the opportunity to annoy Dylan by stealing her sand castle toys.
Dylan on the other hand has always loved the beach. She was ready to dive in! I picked her up and we went into the very rough waters and I was immediately knocked on my butt and of course she went down with me. Her face didn’t go under water, but after that mommy wasn’t allowed to take her into the water anymore. We hit the pool after the beach and well Ava wasn’t a big fan of that either. Both girls were worn out though so mission accomplished as far as I’m concerned!
Ava is fast asleep and yes as usual Dylan is still awake. She’ll fall asleep as soon as I lay down and stop blogging! Miss you Daddy, wish you were here!

Have kids, will travel June 8, 2008
We are off to the beach! I’m proud to say that I got all of my clothes and the girls’ clothes in one, yes ONE, suitcase. It wasn’t easy though. I can’t believe how much two little people need to travel: clothes, diapers, pack n’ play, stroller, special blankets, and toys. All of this has caused me to cut down on how many shoes I can take on trips now. Oh the sacrifices I make for my children… Seriously though it’s a lot of stuff. Now that I think of it I haven’t actually picked up the suitcase. I hope I can lift it into the car! Okay Dylan just brought me the top of a toy ironing board and asked me if she could take it to the beach because she needed it to surf. Must be the California genes coming out.
I’ll try to post while we’re gone.

Happy Birthday Prince! June 7, 2008
Okay, those of you who know me well are not surprised to see this post. For those of you who don’t know it, I am a HUGE Prince fan! HUGE!!! Today is his 50th birthday, so Happy Birthday Prince! Lucky for me VH1 is playing prince videos all day! As I’ve said before to everyone who likes to make fun of me, he is a musical genius. He is also a Christian and proud of it. He’s funky, one heck of a guitar player and timeless.

Hi Daddy #2 June 5, 2008
Well the girls had a good day at Mrs. Di’s and we just came in from playing outside. Dylan and Ava are upstairs in the playroom having a tea party. I don’t think Ava is cooperating with Dylan, she sounds frustrated. It was really hot today and sunny. The lawn has been mowed and it looks much better. Dylan and I are going to try and catch some lightening bugs after Ava goes to bed. I think Dylan and I are going to the pool with Brandi tomorrow. We miss you!

Hi Daddy! June 5, 2008
We went to Pete and Brandi’s tonight and had wonderful meal of beef brisket, corn, orzo, cooked carrots and lots of desserts. Little Ava is fast asleep and of course, Dylan is wide awake. I am watching So You Think You Can Dance on DVR and Dylan is coloring. We hope you are safe and we love you very much!
